Sarbai and Cultural Village

Sarbai or Syarbaini, the nickname of Abdul Wahab Syarbaini, is known as an all-round traditional artist of Banjar. Uniquely, with his ability, he chose to enliven Barikin village, Haruyan, Hulu Sungai Tengah regency. His birthplace is made into cultural village Banjar.

Barikin village is located around 135 kilometer north of Banjarmasin,the capital city of South Borneo. The village was previously known as the haven of the royal nobility hitched of Dipa Kingdom on the 14th century. Barikin is now a village of traditional artist of Banjar.

Cultural aspect is truly felt in Barikin kampoong through the presence of traditional art gallery Ading Bestari, led by Sarbai. Traditional art of Banjar which is rarely played and almost vanish is play here, such as Banjar puppetry, gong puppetry or man puppetry....
